Curse My Power!

A funny thing happened on my way to pee. What you ask? Well I went down to the lavoratory (yes i know how to spell, say this like young frankenstein would say laboratory) and broke le toilette. How you ask? No, not the power of the booty - you evil evil people! Rather the force of my bionic arm throwing down the toilet seat not in anger but in glee because I knew it was clean! And for some reason this was at the time the funniest moment of my week - and yes I had the phone with me because I needed to listen to my voicemail. Its gone downhill from there but at least this is proof that my germaphobia is NOT clinical.

Dirt

I am stressed to say the least! So much to do. However, we are basically set - invites will FINALLY be ordered this weekend; we will book the flight to Cali this weekend; tent, dance floor and sani-can (yeah - did I mention guests'll have to pee in the woods or the portapotty!) next week; and the caterer is good to go.

Did you know that portapotties come in a variety of sizes and shapes and colors and range in price from $135 to $3000! And when they flush where do they flush to. Jess told me buy my aging brain can't remember (and she told me yesterday).

We received a wedding gift from our favorite neighbors who unfortunately cannot attend. A home made bird bath - the BOMB! and Dirt, yes Dirt! The gift that keeps on giving. whodda thunk I'd be gardening wait - more shocking is that I actually eat from said garden. Go Dirt!

Kodak Gallery

I finally had a chance to mention to AM that I needed help on the planning of the festivities. So, one Saturday we will head down and get some professional assistance. I did update her on the plans thus far. I mentioned using Kodak Gallery for our invitations. Two minutes later she stoped laughing! YEAH I put a picture of us on the cover of the card. What the heck WE ARE CUTE. Furthermore, since I have to live up to my middle name "take my picture" of course there is a photo of me (and J) on the cover .. DING!

Off topic

Today I get up feeling restful and less stressed. I shower, dress, clean the cat box, start the cars, make my coffee, kiss Jess and roll to work. Now recall that Jess and I live together and she saw me for about 20 minutes, dressed. I had a busy morning and I was mentally preparing by gulping my seltzer and listening to NPR. I got to the office, welcomed back a co-worker, said hi to another and caught up on the weekend (I was swamped yesterday and couldn't fully get the scoop). My 9am was a meeting with a new mentee/shadower - yes, people really want to know what I do and want to be just like Kar (ha!). I met with the shadow and her teacher. I introduced her to my staff and student workers and then went off to my 11am meeting. I sit down with the DEAN - and cross my arms and note something is wrong with my shirt. I look closer and notice its lighter than normal. I look closer and see some stitching; I uncross my arms and notice there are no buttons. Despite seeing and hugging Jess, meeting with two people across a conference table, talking to my work peeps, not one friggin person noticed that my shirt was on IN-SIDE-OUT!!! Bad enough I didn't notice when I was getting dressed but honestly, WTF PEOPLE!! LOL!

Tents, Chinette, and Table Cloths

We made some progress and have a plan for where exactly at the pond the tables will be placed - although we will have to map it out. I cannot be involved in mapping because I have zero spacial relations - as evidenced by my lack of short game in golf and the fact that I refuse to measure things (i.e., it took me 30 minutes to fit the draft dodgers under the door - opening and closing and cutting and putting back in the little satchels and then closing the door ...rinse wash repeat. Jess on the other hand looked at it cut it put it in the satchel inserted in door and presto chango it fit. Jess will be on mapping out tables, chairs, tents, cars, etc.

We also decided that renting china was a waste. We are not china people and so hello Chinette - or some version of nice disposable dishes, plates, utensils, etc.

Picture this - beautiful summer day, people happily eating, drinking, swimming, sunning, chatting, dancing, etc - and then you look over and there are table cloths billowing in the warm (sweltering) breeze. Nice right. Well I mentioned that the table cloths should be all different colors and designs because in my head that is nice and reminded me of a small bistro in Santorini (if they call them bistros) and it was all romantic. As I was musing in my head Jess was shooting me the daggers of death. Ok not quite death but baffled amusement!? Anyway apparently that would not look as nice as I have it in my head. Probably because she knows me and I will try to dig things out of our closet and the closets of our friends and the wind will be less Mediterranean chic and more like billowing clothes lines with cat furred twin sheets of the transformers and sponge bob squarepants!

Whoda thunk I'd be planning a wedding

So here I am creating another blog - this time about the wedding planning. I figured something has to inspire me to actually follow through with planning.

Assuming you know us - and if you are reading this I am sure you do - we are shall we say a bit on the laid back side. We go with the flow. We are subdued! Wait, did I really write that - yeah, subdued is not the right term. We are just chill! This translates to the fact that we got engaged in September, decided to get married in August, went to town hall in November, planned to have the wedding in August anyway, and now its the end of March and we have not much planned.

I did register us with Target (thank's Gretel - and yeah we need a hatchet) and Crate and Barrel (who doesn't need a cast iron cacti muffin tin?) and the Knot. This is something - but not useful because hello what do we really need but the aforementioned cacti muffin tin.

I lament but then Jess reminds me that we have in fact done something. Aunty is loaning us all the tables and chairs, Uncle is doing the DJing, Penny is doing some photography, and we have a location. In addition, we did order cards on snapfish last night - well we ordered a sample. If the picture is any indication of something other than our cuteness, it is that Penny is one hell of a photographer. This is great progress but its March and well what about all the other million things???

My fear is that we will end up having one of those (whispered voice) "lesbian" weddings where everyone is bringing their own chair in a bag, fishing pole, and pot luck dish. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

So please let this blog inspire me, nay us, to plan this wedding!
